Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher in a low socioeconomic Title I school where all the students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. My class consists of 25 students: 12 students with special needs and 13 General Education.

My kids are faced with many challenges in and outside the classroom.

Many are academically two years below grade level. Many of my students come from single parent homes. Although my kids have varying disabilities (LD, Autism, ED and Mentally Handicapped), they are eager to learn and succeed. I want to provide an atmosphere that is safe and welcoming.

Help me engage and inspire my students by becoming a partner in their learning.

My Project

It's that time of year again, where teachers think about what they can do to create a comfortable, safe and welcoming space for their students.

Times have changed and many of our students are returning to school for the first time in a year and half.

Now more than ever we have to create a positive learning environment.

I want to ensure the safety of my students, a new alphabet chart and number line that is free of dust and grime.

Adding chalk board cork to the old and cracked chalk board would allow me to make my room more aesthetically pleasing adding colorful paper and positive words of praise and encouragement.

And last but not least snacks and more snacks for classroom and home.
