This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
First graders benefit greatly from having supplies and resources for a cozy, calming corner in the classroom. At this age, children are still developing emotional regulation skills and can sometimes feel overwhelmed by school activities, social interactions, or academic challenges. A calming corner provides a safe, quiet space where they can take a break, regain composure, and manage their emotions in a healthy way.
Supplies such as ink for visuals, flexible seating, or pillows can help create a peaceful environment.
These tools aid in self-soothing, allowing students to reset and return to learning with a clearer mindset. These supplies will provide newcomers with essential tools and support to navigate their new environment and succeed academically.
