This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

P.S. 36 is a 3K-5 Elementary School located in Harlem. Our school, while located adjacent to Morningside Park, currently does not have any green space of our own.

As a school we are working to transform an empty planting bed at the front of the school into a BEAUTIFUL School Garden.

Students from all grades are involved in this project. In early November we planted some bulbs and currently have a small area with beautiful tulips, daffodils, and grape hyacinths. Students are excited to fill the rest of the bed with more beautiful flowers. The materials in this project will help us achieve our goal and give the students the opportunity to experience the JOY of gardening.
