This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a 90% Title 1 school. These students, while smart, are not motivated in traditional ways. They are very interested in technology, however, and teaching writing through storyboards that lead to video production creates high interest & buy-in.
I have access to only one video camcorder, which basically is the same as having none. Our large class sizes need at least five camcorders to share among the students for a technology-based lesson.
We need four or five video camcorders to share among the classes. Students will do most of the filming during class time on school grounds. Camcorders will also be available for check-out after school & on weekends for shots that provide a location (for example, the post office or Capital.
Without access to technology, many of my students are in danger of dropping out. Your help will make it possible to "hook" these students into a future that is legal and rewarding. Thanks!
