This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach the most amazing children with special needs in a low income school in South Gate, California. Currently, 98% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. As we move have returned to in person learning , my students are in need of sensory items and high interests learning materials.

My students are creative, inquisitive, and excited about learning even though they are faced with challenges.

I want to be able to guide them through the instructional components as well as give them an opportunity to be creative and inquisitive using the high interests materials.

My Project

The sensory and art items will help support my students with daily learning activities. These items will help my students share their ideas while learning as some continue to struggle with communicating their ideas. The time away from school has affected my students' ability to feel confident in their questions and share ideas. When students are engaged in high-interest learning activities they become more verbal and confident in sharing their ideas. My students will gain access to much-needed basic fundamental skills through daily activities in small groups and one-to-one activities.
