My Students

Our 7th graders take a mandatory Family and Consumer class in which they will be not only learning about food and nutrition but also incorporating sewing and textiles into their learning.

Many of our students love the special classes including family and consumer sciences where they learn everyday life skills they can share with their families.

My Project

Students in textiles already learn clothing construction. With a Silhouette, we can wirelessly design our own logos and designs for clothing and apparel in class. I also would like to see students design a blanket full of positive messages about character. Each student will design a square of the quilt on the computer and create their own square.

This new tool will enable many personalized and creative options for students learning about fabrics and textiles as well as apparel.

It will also incorporate new technology into our Fabric and Textiles curriculum.
