Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am thrilled to be teaching math and science to my incredible sixth graders this year! These are my favorite subjects, and I just love this age group. My students are enthusiastic about learning new things and are full of energy!
Our school has a spectacular staff and incredible community support.
Even though we are located in a low socioeconomic area, it is clear that parents want the best for their children by their active involvement.
My students face many daily challenges, as many come from foster homes or might be experiencing homelessness; however, they always come to school with dazzling smiles, ready to have fun learning.
This is going to be an amazing school year because so much has changed. It was difficult to transition to distance learning as neither staff nor families were prepared. Now, we are ready and our students are eager to start learning online. It will look so much different, but I am confident that we will all do our very best.
My Project
I am excited to be returning to school to teach in person! This will be great for my students as well as myself. It has been so long since any of us has seen the inside of a classroom!
While I primarily teach Math and Science, I will also have time for social emotional and enrichment activities.
Since these 3D puzzles went over so well during summer school, I would like to repeat this activity with my incoming 6th graders this fall. These puzzles will allow my students to be able to express themselves creatively, which they haven't had many opportunities for in a really long time. I know they will love using these awesome two-sided markers to color 3D puzzle pieces. Research shows coloring is excellent for mental health as it uses both sides of the brain. Additonally, my students will really enjoy using problem solving strategies and collaboration to put together their puzzles.
With your help, my students and I will have a fun Friday activity to look forward to as we head back to in person school.
