I work for a Title I school, which means there is a large population of low-income families. I am a reading specialist which means I work with students who need extra help in reading.
My students are very hardworking but can get frustrated because reading does not come easily to them.
I believe that a love for reading starts very early and part of my job is to instill this passion with my students. My goal this year is to help keep my students as engaged in reading as possible.
My Project
The students I work with struggle in reading and are not always the most enthusiastic readers, but my students love playing video games and using technology. My goal is to help these students develop a love of reading as much as they love to play video games.
It is my hope that using these tablets in the classroom will help keep them engaged and excited about reading.
These tablets will be used by students on interactive websites and with reading games. The tablets will help develop the skills that are needed to create passionate and successful readers!
