My Students

I am a first year teacher to a wonderful group of students in WV. This group of students is special and have been through so much during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of them have suffered loss of loved ones, isolation, and depression during this very difficult time. Some students in this group have also suffered loss of parents and other family members due to the Opioid Epidemic that has also been a big problem in our small rural town.

These students are survivors, fighters, thinkers, and creators.

They are capable of overcoming challenges that many adults will never face. Some of the students in my class suffer from instability in the home. Some are responsible for taking care of siblings. Some of them have shown up to Meet the Teacher night alone because they are taking their education into their own hands. These kids are amazing, resilient, and smart. They are creative, helpful, and care about other people. There is no group more deserving of your support.

My Project

In the local high school here in this town, there is a robotics team. The children learn to code and even have face offs against other schools and teams. It’s amazing to see how excited and inspired the children are when they are participating on these teams. The children in my class will go on to have a chance to participate on these teams when they get older.

Access to coding robots will inspire students to create and build skills that they can use for many years to come.
