We are a K-5th grade school with over 700 students, including a large population of students working hard to become proficient in English. There are eight students in my class who speak and read another language. Our students come from all different religious and cultural backgrounds, along with socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is privileged to serve military families and children of Barksdale Air Force Military Base. Our school is rated an A school by the state of Louisiana. If our students are to be competitive in today's world they need to become proficient in computer use.
Our school has adopted a new math program that requires students do activities on the chromebook every day.
It is difficult trading chromebooks with other classroom so we are trying to get enough chromebooks for each student.
Each student helps diversify our population, bringing in knowledge and experience of various cultures and traditions. My students differ greatly socially, academically, emotionally, and economically, and I strive daily to meet each of these differences. This project will help improve my students education progress. Many of my students do not have access to these resources. My students will work individually as well as in small groups.
My project is to increase the number of Chromebooks in my classroom. The Chromebooks will be used by students to complete independent digital lessons on our new math program called "Zearn". Zearn is a math program that is personalized to individual learners. The program focuses on fluency, problem solving, and deep understanding of math skills. With Zearn Math, students learn content two different ways: independent digital lessons and small group instruction.
Basic math skills are mastered in elementary school.
Having these Chromebooks will help to ensure that my students have the tools they need to acquire basic math skills they will use throughout their lives.
