Crazy for Chomebooks!

Help me give my students laptops, so they can further their inquiry in Science and Math skills. I am trying to purchase a laptop, so my students can practice Math skills and research Science.

My Students

My 3rd and 4th-grade students have lots of energy and they are always ready to learn new ways to work in math. My school is in a rural area with a high level of low-income families. Many of my students do not have a computer or internet available at their home. The students do not let this hold them back from learning. They always want to learn and try new methods of learning. We have started a new math curriculum this year with many ways for the students to explore math. The students are learning many ways to work with math by using many different math tools. I would love for my students to be able to engage in this curriculum every day to their fullest ability. I have a goal set to allow my students access daily to work on these skills. If we can find the funding and support for my project, my students will be able to grow their math skills daily in many different ways. They are ready to learn math in many ways using many tools.

My Project

Our school is in a rural community and most of our students don't have access to computers or technology unless they are at school. In our 3rd and 4th grades, we have a diverse group of learners who are motivated by technology. Our county has access to a wide variety of computer-based programs that enhance science and math competency with real-world scenarios. Due to limited technology, it is hard to have enough computers to enable my students to have access to these awesome resources. Many of these programs are leveled based on each diverse learner and their individual learning needs.

As a teacher, I use multiple technology resources to add to my students’ knowledge and encourage their personal inquiry based on their individual needs.

Many of the resources we have access to allow me to create assignments based on each student's diverse needs. One student may be working on fractions finding common denominators while another may be adding or subtracting fractions. This helps me allow each student to get the practice they need while being successful at their own pace. Many times in the classroom, we have to move on to the next skill before all students master a skill, but this allows more opportunities for success. Please help me add more technology to our math and science classroom.
