My Project
My classroom is focused on inclusion and collaboration on many different levels as many of my students are first or second-generation immigrants. One way that we collaborate in the classroom is by working in groups or with partners. It is not always easy or the best option to have all of the groups working at a desk, so having an alternative seating option for students to work on the floor or rug would increase their productivity. These seats would also be a great addition to my break space where students are allowed a moment or two to regulate their emotions and take some deep breaths as rocking can be a calming motion.
Many of my students struggle to create art that truly represents themselves because a standard box of markers or colored pencils doesn't include a shade that matches their skin.
By having these Colors of the World markers and the other coloring supplies all of my students will be able to adequately represent themselves and their friends while they doodle and create art. When students feel like they are represented they are more willing to collaborate, participate and share their wonderful ideas.
