Help me give my students materials to build their own chain reaction contraptions and to learn about higher level thinking skills using books and basic STEM materials.
I run a K-6 program for gifted students at a public school. In addition, I work with another group of kinder and 1st grade students on promoting their talents. My goal is to encourage my students to build upon their creativity and critical thinking skills. I see approximately 95 students each week.
These students are tomorrow's leaders, engineers, and entrepreneurs!
In class, I focus on topics such as STEAM, inquiry, critical thinking, and enabling students to explore their talents. Students have a wide range of talents and abilities which require various levels of support. Instruction must be engaging and differentiated to meet the needs of every student. As you can imagine, it requires a great deal of planning to run a class of inquisitive, motivated, and talented kids who love to learn!
My Project
I need some enrichment story books to build my classroom library. These books will be used to add meaning to my lessons and provide student engagement during inquiry based lessons. This style of learning is what is BEST for ALL students.
If you've never heard of Rube Goldberg, he’s an amazing man who uses simple machines to turn easy every day jobs into fun, but complicated tasks!
My goal is to gather enough STEM materials to send home with my students to design, build, and improve their very own Rube Goldberg Machines during distance learning.
