This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Majority of my first grade scholars experience the most meaningful opportunities while in school. Therefore, it is my responsibility as their teacher to ensure that I am helping to create a space and time for them to occur during the time that I have with them.
They are bright first graders attending a low-income public school in an urban neighborhood.
Despite the challenges they are faced with daily, they remain dedicated to their learning and efforts to become better. However, they need the classroom materials to be successful and extend the enthusiasm that they have for learning.
My Project
My students enjoy math class where they can share their thinking by drawing, writing, most importantly using manipulatives. These activity kits will be used during small group instruction. Students will be able to access the kits for independent practice as well as reinforcement of concepts in a small group.
My students will benefit because the kits will be used to enhance understanding and the joy of learning.
The Math Equivalency Puzzles and Count and Link will be utilized during small group instruction as well as independent practice. Being able to work with engaging material will enhance their learning by serving as an extension to what is taught. As an educator, I am responsible for making sure that my students enjoy what they are learning in school daily. With the science kits, the geometric cubes, and party block cards to name a few we will be a step closer.
