it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am very excited to be teaching kindergarten as a special education teacher this year in an integrated, co-teaching classroom. My classroom consists of ten students with special needs and fifteen students of mixed English Language Learners and general education students. Students are not only diverse academically, but economically and culturally as well. My students face many challenges everyday, in school and out. My school has a very large population of low poverty, as well as children in shelters.
These past two years has brought many challenges to teachers, students, and their families.
Many students did school through a full remote or a blended learning model. As things begin to return to normal and all students returned to in person learning in September, there are new challenges that we face.
My Project
Each year students bring in basic school supplies to support their learning, however after just a few months, their most used school supply, crayons, are completely warn down, broken, or lost.
Please help give my students fresh packs of crayons to support their creativity and learning for the rest of the school year!
Kindergarten students use their crayons every day, multiple times a day. They need their crayons to complete school work in a fun way. They are also able to use the crayons to show their creativity.
This basic school supply is a necessity in the early childhood classroom. When students are given their own pack of fresh new crayons it not only supports them in school, but gets them excited!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
