In a thriving school of over 700 students, I teach 25 energetic 2nd graders who range from high achieving to limited English (ELL) students. We are also privileged to serve military families and children of Barksdale Air Force Base Airmen. Each student helps diversify our population, bringing in knowledge and experience of various cultures and traditions.
No matter the academic or ability level, all of my students have different learning styles that I strive to meet every day.
In return, our students work hard to learn and grow in their academics each day, completing STEM activities, RTI rotations, and computer-based math lessons, leading our school to be a "B" school!
Technology has become a daily part of each lesson taught in classrooms throughout our nation. Teachers use technology as a visual aid and can also make it interactive through many programs. Students use this same technology to complete the lessons and further their learning independently.
We need Chromebooks in our classroom to complete daily Math lessons through ZEARN, move towards mastering math facts with REFLEX, and increase fluency levels and phonics skills with i-READY.
With 24 students in a classroom, we are very restricted on time, due to the lack of technology provided. Each Chromebook we receive helps us remain 1:1, allowing students the time they need to master the skills being taught.
