My Students
It's hard to dance without some "thumping" beats! My students love music and moving to it, so I wanted to incorporate the two and have the latest technology to share this music.
My students attend a public urban school.
The students really enjoy learning about different cultures and ethnic groups. My students come to Physical Education classes looking for a new and exciting challenge each day. We have Pre-Kindergarten starting at age 3 all the way to 5th grade students in my building. They are into computers and crave the latest technology but it is not readily available to them at school or in their homes.
My Project
With the Ipod, dock, and computer memory we will be able to update our music, keep digital copies, and incorporate various movement and dance activities into our Physical Education classes. The students will create original dances set to music using the Ipod & dock. We video tape the student performance. I edit the video with a laptop computer that desperately needs a memory upgrade to process the video. I then save the video as an MP4 to the Ipod and we use a projector to watch the video and the students critique and grade their project. The students use their creativity in their dance and find it truly amazing to watch themselves, many for the first time, in a dance video that they created.

The Ipod, dock, and memory would give the students an exciting project that reaches various curriculum areas such as dance, movement, creativity, culture, and evaluation.
