My Students
I teach at a high poverty school in NC in a large farming community. All students receive free breakfast. Many of our students also receive backpacks of food for the weekends.
My students love to come to school, and they are sponges to learn as much as they can. So many students come to my classroom with struggling backgrounds and it is vital to me to make sure I meet all the needs of my students so they can learn to their full potential.
My Project
This is my first year teaching kindergarten and I am loving how hands-on my students really are. My students are benefitting from being crafty and building with many supplies. I am running out of these supplies and I need to stock up so we can continue this way of learning. The construction paper, tissue paper, paint, and canvases will help provide many opportunities for my students. We build words, illustrate our writing, show understanding of numbers and shapes, and do project-based learning. Having these materials will help their learning stick in their brains and make learning more colorful with less worksheets.
