My Students

My students are PASSIONATE about learning! They have beautiful and creative minds; they need a little help bringing it out. I want to give my students the ability to have the appropriate tools to help them bring out their creativity.

My students are full of life and energy and are always excited to learn.

They come from a disadvantaged school on the Windward side of Oahu. Our school is located in a predominately rural, low-income neighborhood with a considerable portion of the children of Hawaiian and/or Micronesian ancestry. I have a very diverse class of 16 students from different cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. They are motivated young students who struggle with learning due to the lack of accessible tools.

My Project

I would like to have a variety of materials for my students to create and make their visions come to life. I want to be able to have an abundance of supplies for the students to use. My students are getting bored with using just paper and crayons. I want to introduce new materials for my students to use.

Students' creativity is being suppressed by the high-stakes testing demands.

I want to start my kindergarteners off right with introducing them to crafts and creativity, so when they reach their testing grades, they will be able to use all of their sensory skills to succeed. Having supplies such as tissue paper, mod podge, wood sticks, magnets, and craft sticks will be a start for their minds to create. Please help me make my vision for my students to come true.
