My Students
Each day, nearly 100 students spend part of their day in my classroom. In this room, we learn to read in the most exciting way possible! When I think about my role as a teacher, the one thing on which I have constantly focused is the relationships that I have built with my students. We have conversations on subjects and issues that are important to us, and we learn about and experience the world in meaningful ways.
Our classroom is less of a class and more of a community, where we are all sharing ideas and communicating and learning from one another at the same time!
My kids work hard, and they are eager to learn. This classroom is our space to establish our place as world-class citizens in our global society!
My Project
CREATING – whether it be through art, music, cooking, quilting, sewing, drawing, photography (or) cake decorating – is beneficial to us in a number of important ways. Our school is on a mission to implement SEL practices, and have decided that we need an ART and CRAFTS club this semester. 40 kids signed up!
These resources will be used so that the kids can spend club time doing amazing crafts and art projects.
Crafting can help students who suffer from anxiety, depression or chronic pain, experts say. It may also ease stress and increase happiness, so twice a week for 30 minutes a day, these 40 kids have the opportunity to ease their mind and discover the joy in life by being creative.
Since it is a new club, we need supplies. I have curated a list that will lend itself to at least 10 different projects the kids can do for the next few months.
