We are a multicultural classroom. The majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. We have a large population of migrant students from various places. The largest would be Somali students. For some of our students, this is their first time going to school in America.
Many of our students are trauma-impacted, low-income students.
These students view school as their safe place and a place where they can be themselves. We have a very supportive community that is built mostly of refugees.
My Project
We are looking for some ceramic tiles to create designs in the science classroom. We are also looking for sheet protectors and binder dividers to help keep our stuff organized.
Organization is key in life!
Help me give myself and my students a more organized area to work in. Supplies such as binder dividers and sheet protectors help keep our papers on projects safe. I am also looking for ceramic tiles and permanent markers to create tiles to decorate our classroom. Students will think of a positive word to describe themselves and put it on a tile and decorate the tile. This helps build students self-confidence.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
