Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Pre-K students love coming to school to learn and play with their friends. They think our classroom is perfect. They don't see that if we had a few extra materials, we would be able to do so many more things.
They are happy with what we have, but I want to give them more.
We are the only Pre-K class at our school and my students are a great bunch of kids. They are just starting out and they are so excited to come to school every day.
As their teacher, I try to maintain that excitement so that they will always love coming to school. Most of them come from very low-income homes and have never been in school before entering my class.
My Project
Right now we have headphones and mouse but they're the wired kind and are constantly tangled up which has caused them to start to break. My kids have a hard time getting themselves started on the computer and frequently need me to assist them because they can't get the headphones untangled. If we had wireless headphones and mice, my students would be able to maximize their learning time and get to work on the computer independently. That would allow me to continue working with other students uninterrupted.
The photo printer is going to be used to create a classroom display of our favorite memories to help build a sense of community.
It will also help my students develop their sense of time as they recall events from months prior. They will be so excited to see pictures from their favorite activities such as field trips displayed in our classroom.
We are also in need of craft materials such as beads, pom-poms, and gift bags. The beads will be used for my students to sort and make patterns with. The pom-poms will be used for decorating their artworks and for fine motor development. The gift bags will be decorated and then used for them to take home their artworks at the end of the year.
