My Students
My students are children with varying special needs. Their needs vary from other health impairment as specified by ADHD, ADD, PTSD; Speech and Language Impairment; Autism; Intellectual Disabilities and Learning impaired. I work with my students in small groups up to a max of 8 because they work better and receive more support in a smaller group.
Sometimes, I feel my students are misunderstood because of their behavior, academic and social inabilities but when they are with me they are very happy to be themselves, excited to learn and feel confident in accepting who they are.
In my classroom learning takes place in a fun an exciting way as describe by my students. They often leave saying that was much easier than I thought why can't you help other teachers to help me this way.
My Project
These materials will help my students tap into their creative side. Many students are currently inundated with entirely too much screen time due to the pandemic. My students who are returning to the building for in-person learning remember all the hands-on fun art and craft activities we engaged in.
Students want to create art, work with their hands, draw, paint and write on topics of their choice.
They often ask me when we are going to engage in those activities this school year. These materials will help students to create art to make their lives bright. They can make stickers for their personal items. They can make art to beautify their classrooms or their homes.
I feel these materials can bring a little sunshine into their lives with-in one school period. Some times art takes time and may take a few days to complete but I feel this machine will help cut down on the time. It will give them something to walk a way with that day and it won't matter if we have a shutdown the next day and they have to wait a week for it.
