Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A few students approached me about creating a craft club for the student body so that they have a safe place to come socialize and express their creativity. After a few meetings, the students and I have spent a good amount of our own resources to provide materials for the students to use to create their own crafts.
One of our club officers ended up purchasing some craft materials that cost a couple hundred dollars for our second meeting.
We are dedicating some of our fundraisers to help reimburse her for supplies and to create a bank of funds for future meetings. Throughout the year, we've reimbursed her almost 50% of the way. Cypress Creek is a 100% low-income school, so a student contributing so much to an extracurricular activity can cause financial strain.
I know my students and I, the sponsor of this organization, would greatly appreciate the donations you could give. The fundraiser coming up involves creating and selling keychains and charms for the holidays, as well as providing supplies for an upcoming themed crafting event we want to host!
