Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When I was young I checked out a beginning knitting book from my elementary school library. That book, with it's clear directions and simple projects, set me on a course to become a lifelong knitter. Thirty years later, it remains one of my favorite hobbies.
I would like for my students to have the opportunity to explore different crafts with the help of books in our library, but sadly our craft book selection is lacking.
I would like to add new and updated books to our library craft section. Craft and hobby books promote creativity, develop fine motor skills, encourage problem-solving, and provide a means of self-expression.
My students crave these types of books. Several times a week I get requests for books about crocheting, crafts, or Legos and unfortunately the book choices we currently have in the library are limited. I would absolutely love to see my students use their imaginations and learn new skills through the use of new craft books.
