This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! All of them are bilingual or are learning to be. Some of them have three languages. These kiddos are the future adults I want to be caring for the world. My students come from all over to attend our dual language Spanish/English school and their families are diverse in culture.

My students are curious about the world around them and so eager to learn.

They are a dynamic, interesting, and interested group of young people who love to learn about life.

My Project

Second graders are really curious, and they are at a place developmentally where they love to have some independence. I’m trying to find more toys that are appropriate for free time that will also fill a gap in my students’ learning. They have recently become interested in coding through the Hour of Code activity, and are hungry for more ways to learn this valuable set of skills.

These two coding toys will give my students access to hands-on coding practice through play.

I like these a lot because they do not require giving the kids extra screen time; they can work together with apps and online games they use at other times.
