My Students
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book you couldn't put down? My students know just what that's like; but their books are falling apart! A few years ago, I posted a similar book project but those books have since been *overly* loved. It's time to restock!
My first graders are eager, hard-working students.
They come from many different countries, including the United States, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, Poland, Mexico and more. Many of my students are English language learners; at this age it is amazing to watch how much they grow and learn.
My Project
Think about that feeling you get when you crack open a brand new book... By replenishing these book titles in our classroom library, my students will be able to read brand new books that aren't taped together, tattered, and worn out! I have chosen books that are high interest for this age group... They are the books that are constantly borrowed and sought after. These books can also be grouped together easily. If my students know they love Elephant and Piggy books by Mo Willems, the books will be conveniently located in the "Elephant and Piggy" basket. Some students will even challenge themselves to reading all of the books in a basket! I have also included a vowel container pack that will help my struggling readers with the decoding skills necessary to enjoy these books. This way, the library is accessible to all students.
By adding these books to my classroom library, you will make book shopping day the most exciting day for my students!
They will flourish as readers, and more importantly, they will develop a true love of reading.
