We have the most inspirational students! They come from more than 75 countries and a multitude of different situations, but they all strive for future success.
I focus my lessons on wellness including addiction education and prevention, personal health and advocacy, community health skills (like CPR), financial health and fitness for life.
My goal is to make sure all my students have the same quality opportunities to learn about their own health and wellness.
So many of my students must overcome hurdles just to get to school, never mind the challenges of juggling after school activities, homework, a job, and family responsibilities. But they never cease to amaze me with their goal-driven energy.
My Project
According to the American Heart Association, if you live in a predominantly black or Hispanic community, you are 30% less likely to survive a heart attack. The simple reason is lack of quality CPR training. Our goal is to change that statistic by training every student in our school to perform quality CPR. Our students will have the choice to learn Hands Only CPR or be fully certified in CPR/AED and First Aid. They will also be able to bring kits home to teach family and friends lifesaving skills.
