CPR, IV's, Blood Draws, Oh My! Hands-on Small Animal Learning

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and interested in small animals. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They are passionate about the agriculture classes that they take and are excited about the opportunities provided to them.

Our school is located in North Dakota near the Minnesota and South Dakota borders.

While my students are enrolled in agriculture courses, many of them do not come from an agriculture background. My middle school and Vet Science students are very interested in small animals and have loved getting to bring their pets to school.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although their learning styles vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

All of my students love their pets at home and have had the opportunity to bring them to school with them. While it is fun to learn about their pets, how to care for them, and training techniques, my students are lacking hands-on learning opportunities. This CPR dog and canine IV simulators will teach my students how to perform live saving measures on their pets should they need to. Additionally, my students will be exposed to real-world experiences related to vet and animal science which may spark their interest in future careers.
