This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 20 first grade English language learners at a school in the Los Angeles Valley. I am responsible for teaching all subject matter. Reading is a special time in my classroom. Along with teaching my students to read,I read to them everyday. Although many of them are nonreaders when they enter my classroom, they love books. I have created a "cozy" reading corner in my classroom to encourage my students to enjoy reading. As of now, my students sit at their desks to read during "silent reading" time. They enjoy sharing books with each other, so I would like to make my reading area more comfortable and inviting. A small area rug would just do that! Having one with the alphabet on it would also be an additional reading tool and would make our classroom more cheerful.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
