My students need a spot to get comfy and read. They love to snuggle up with a good book, but our floor is cold and hard. I want them to enjoy reading to themselves with pillows and beanbag chairs.

My Students
My young kindergarten students are loving beginning to read. They can't wait until we have quiet reading time each day. I have 3 large pillows and 1 rocking chair that everyone wants to use. They want to lie on the floor to read, but our tiles are cold and dirty. I need some comfy reading spots.
My students are young and enthusiastic learners.
They enjoy everything we do at school. Our school is large with over 900+ students in grades prekindergarten to fifth. The students come from various backgrounds. We have a large special education population, as well as a large ESOL (English as a Second Language) population. Many of them come from families with working parents and they spend long hours in daycare before and after school.
My Project
The students will use the beanbags and the pillow mats to have an individual cozy spot to read. I am adding to the 3 large pillows and rocking chair I already have. These comfortable areas will encourage students to relax and focus on the enjoyment of reading. I envision walking in my room at quiet reading time and having every student in a preferred, comfortable position reading quietly to themselves.
Your donation will give my students a comfortable spot to enjoy reading.
They will be able to spread out throughout my classroom and lounge on a mat or beanbag chair and read. I want them to enjoy reading and to realize what a pleasure it can be in their lives.
