My students (25) need each a copy of weekly reader for interesting reading materials. I teach in a Title 1 school and these students own very few books. This would give them the ability to keep up with current events and bring some reading materials home. I have also requested ink that would provide these students with the ability to print summaries from articles they have read.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Third grade, is where I believe is a truly magical age group. I teach third grade at a Title 1 school where most of our students come from low income, well meaning families. These students try really hard to overcome the adversities of their poverty. We need extra help from people who believe that the children are our future.
It was when I was in the third grade, that a wonderful teacher made a difference in my life. It was then that I decided to become a teacher. I teach at that very school hoping to make a small difference.
Please help me in this endeavor by donating a copy of "Weekly Reader" for each of my 25 students and the ink that would enable them to type and print summaries of some interesting articles from these events. The weekly readers would be used to discuss current events and to encourage students to read on their own time.
Any help that you could possibly give us would be greatly appreciated.
