My Students
Our third grade classroom is a collaborative and wonderful space to learn and grow. Together, we delve into the 21st century world, one digital experience at a time! Our school population serves a lot of military children as well as those coming from low-income backgrounds.
With a mixture of student learning styles ranging from those with learning disabilities to those who are academically gifted, challenge is a necessity.
Luckily, we utilize our technology in innovative and creative ways in order to deliver the enrichment or remediation needed for success!
My Project
Our students would benefit from having cushions and tables that allow them to choose their seating around the room. This gives the students the power to select their flexible seating spots in an area that is least distracting for them.
"Children take more ownership of their classroom when they can choose their seats, and are given freedom to move around when needed – for example, to see the board, to get away from a noisy neighbor, and perhaps sit near the window where there’s natural light." In the classroom setting, this power of personal choice is important.
It gives the children the responsibility to take ownership of their learning. Cushions and desks give them the means to do this. The tables even provide areas for their computers to be utilized in a safe way. A comfy learning environment increases engagement and participation, which equals increased learning!
