My Project
My students are amazing young adults who show grit every day as they overcome daily challenges. They are driven and intelligent young people who want to learn as much as they can. Many of these students are struggling readers, who need a variety of different books in order to improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary.
I want to create a cozy and lovely reading nook with saucer chairs and an area rug next to my classroom library so that students have a great experience while reading, which will make them want to read more.
Students will be able to choose from a variety of books from my school library. The purpose of the books is to get students hooked on reading and to increase their Lexile levels. Then they can have this little area in the classroom to either read these books or browse through them. I believe that this will increase engagement with books. Because of this, it will inspire a love of reading, improve literacy skills, and let them imagine a brighter future for themselves.
