Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from many different backgrounds. Many of them come from countries like El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. My students do not have academic opportunities at home. That is why I need to ensure that my classroom has the resources to expand their learning opportunities.
I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day to help maximize their knowledge.
My Project
Having a cozy and comfortable reading area can influence students to read and encourage them to spend more time reading, which will develop their love for books. Our goal is that all our students develop that passion for reading and become fluent readers.
A comfortable space will also serve to improve students emotionally as they can use this area to self-control.
Also having flexible seating to provide students with independence because they choose the location in the classroom that works for them.
My students will choose to work in their desk in a wobble stool, bean bags or on the rug.
