My students need a clean carpet and soft seats to encourage them to love books and reading.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wynn's classroom raised $584

My Students
My students at Dunbar Elementary School are all on the Autism Spectrum. There is a ratio of two girls and six boys in my class that are all African American in grades kindergarten to second grade. All of students receive free breakfast and lunch. They are limited in classroom supplies that they are able to bring to school each day to give full participation in school.
Dunbar is a small urban school with small teacher to student ratios, which makes our school desirable but our overall performance discourages the elite.
However, despite these challenges, my students attend regularly and do their best. They want to be at school where they can learn and develop skills that support future success.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will support and encourage students to love reading. The students currently read on an old, worn carpet and fight over three pillows. This distracts them away from developing a love for books.
The students often want to read but quickly lose interest because they are uncomfortable.
The clean carpet and soft seats would help to provide a more comfortable lounge area for students to read for longer periods of time. They will encourage students to choose the library center more often than required.
We thank you in advance and graciously appreciate your donations and your concern for our literacy success.
