My Students
I am fortunate enough to walk into a room full of smiling, sweet, five-year-old faces each day. They are eager to learn everything they possibly can.
My students come from predominately low-income families who may not speak English.
Our school is a Title One school. The majority of the students do not have access to any technology in their homes. Many come to school without knowing any shapes, colors, letters, or numbers. Our teachers have to work hard to expose them to everything that we can and pull them up to where they need to be.
My Project
My students need a comfortable, defined space to learn. Right now, my students do not have a well defined place to sit while we are on the carpet for our daily instruction.
We spend the majority of the day learning on the carpet.
We start and end our day here for morning meeting. Students love to work on the floor whenever they can. It would be extremely helpful for them to have a carpet where they have plenty of space to sit and learn comfortably. I know my students would be so grateful and we would use it in endless ways!
