Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fourth grade Bilingual students are creative and hard working. They understand their purpose and role as a student. My motivated students are second language learners who come from various Latin American countries. Everyday they push themselves to do their best. They understand the importance of an education and want to become successful.
They are goal driven and are passionate about learning.
I have noticed their creativity in writing and how they find ways to make things their own. They always add a special touch to any project big or small. I want to ensure that they have enough opportunities to express their ideas.
My Project
Whenever we have a read aloud or go over a lesson, my students are uncomfortable on a cold floor! Unfortunately this is not an ideal situation for my kiddos. I feel terrible when I don't have a warm and welcoming space for my students. Instead, they have to drag their chairs to the meeting area because I cannot tolerate to have my kiddos on that cold, hard floor. I am aware that my students listen best when they are cozy and comfortable.
We are in need of a warm and cozy carpet and soft seating options for our daily meetings.
This will not only add color to our classroom, but will create a welcoming learning environment. Children become motivated when they see that they have special objects to call their own. They will become more receptive when called over to the meeting area. A carpeted meeting area, I believe will create students who take ownership of their learning.
