My Students

My 5th students are amazing and we are on a healthy lifestyle mission! To achieve this mission, we begin each day with yoga and mindful meditation. We are finding that this practice sets students up for success all day long. The problem we are running into is that the hard floors in the classroom make it very uncomfortable for the children to participate in the activities and poses. We really need a carpet for the main part of our room, however, classroom rugs/carpet are expensive and unfortunately, an expense I cannot afford alone. Students are finding that practicing yoga and mindful meditation helps them alleviate anxiety, stress, and build self control. Please help our healthy minds and bodies initiative!

My Project

Many students I serve need to move around quite a bit during the day to be successful in the classroom setting. Practicing yoga and meditation helps them a great deal, however in an already cramped classroom, it’s very uncomfortable to do our stretches on hard flooring. We also get up throughout the day for different activities and brain breaks to help keep minds fresh and ready to learn. A carpet would provide flexible seating when traditional seating gets uncomfortable or students with special needs need alternative seating! Donating to our classroom so that we can have a classroom carpet would make a world of a difference for the kiddos!
