My students need the flexible accommodations that classroom rugs offer. They would allow my students to move around and sit in a cozy setting while reading a great book.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
One doesn't by chance fall into the profession of teaching. Teaching and making a difference in children's lives, somehow, someway chooses you. Most educators choose this profession to truly impact and make a difference in the lives of their students. This can be via academics or by mentoring students and providing them with a safe-haven for a few hours a day.
Our school is where I call home and teach reading, language arts, and writing to my 4th grade students.
We are a Title I school which means it has a large population of low socioeconomic background families. My school is composed of students of varies backgrounds but our largest population is that of English Language Learners (ELL) students whom are acquiring English as a second language. Many migrate here from other countries for a better chance of life and better opportunities. Due to their financial situations, over 90% of our students are either receiving free or reduced lunch.
Teaching is the noblest and toughest profession out there. We are truly shaping our student to be life-long learners and productive citizens of this ever-changing technologically advanced world.
My Project
This year I am focusing on my students being active and in motion throughout their learning. I want to make sure that my students have the flexibility to move around and sit all over the classroom. I would love to utilize these classroom rugs in the reading library area as well as near the SmartBoard.
The goal for these classroom rugs is to foster and create an environment in which students feel comfortable and motivated to pick up a great book.
Creating a classroom environment in which students feel cozy and comfortable will hopefully increase and promote their motivation to read. Additionally, the students love to sit on the floor all around my classroom. If I had some classroom rugs, the students will feel much more at ease and comfortable.
