The students in my classroom are full of curiosity and energy! They enjoy learning new things and being together with what we call “our classroom family”. They encourage one another and often work together to make a new creation, help a friend master a learning station concept, or encouragement when someone is having a tough day.
I am amazing daily by how many skills they have already built this year, from reading to counting by 10’s, they have come so far in a few short months!
My Project
One of the most exciting things that children learn in kindergarten is how to read. Going beyond the initial introduction to reading and developing a love for the skill is what makes for great readers in the future. Currently, our library area is lacking in organization and comfort. The children have difficulty finding a "just right book" that piques their interest and entices them to crack the cover due to cluttered shelves. There is also a lack of comfortable seating that would allow for a relaxing read. Our classroom needs a place where children want to go to become engaged in a good book and find the joy in reading it themselves!
