I teach 4th grade learners in a Title I school & low socioeconomic area. My kiddos struggle in their home lives; Some have little support from parents, a lot live in poverty, and they come to school to eat and be loved, as well as learn. I want to create a classroom environment where they belong. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in their classroom. I can do this my offering them flexible seating & mailboxes for their papers.
A huge portion of my students would rather be at school than at home. School is the place that a lot of them come to eat and be loved, while learning. I want to create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, while being a place they love to be in. I want it to be a comfortable learning space, and allow them to have options with seating. My kids love to read and write in the floor, but I would like to provide them with floor seating. Also, I want them to have their own mailboxes to store their work and paper in. This will help keep them organized.
