My Students

My students from KHS, Utah are bright, creative, and loveable. They make me laugh so hard I cry, and they are wise beyond their years. Our students love art so much that our school had to hire a new art teacher (aka: me), and decided to turn the faculty gym into an art studio (aka: my first classroom). Our art classes are in high demand because the students can express themselves, learn high-order thinking skills, and lose themselves in creative pursuits. I work with 500 students a year in a close-knit community nestled near the mountains that has forged its bonds from being negatively stereotyped by other regions nearby.

My students learn 2D and 3D art skills, but more importantly, they learn how to survive and thrive by cultivating a creative outlet in the artform of their choice.

Each of my classes is comprised of a staggering diversity of ideologies, cultures, religions, and ethnic backgrounds. They use art to exhibit who and what is most important to them at this stage of their development. I love my students with my whole heart, and I know I share that love with this community and all of its stakeholders.

My Project

My students can't wait to use the polymer modeling clay to make miniature landscapes in sculpture and photography classes! They are also always hungry, big surprise, so providing snacks will greatly enhance their focus and overall performance. Everything in this order is going to increase the learning and fun in my art classes and we are exceedingly grateful for your contributions.

Recently, while I was passing out sketchbooks to one of my classes, I realized how rare it was for students to be given something that is only for them and only for their own special, creative ideas.

Many of them were overwhelmed with the amount of pages that were in the sketchbooks, and were surprised they were not asked to share. After I had that experience, I hopped onto this website because I discovered how important it is to make students feel valued in their art class, and that by providing them with high quality art supplies, we can make them feel like they matter and are worth something, if not everything.

Thank you again for your time and contribution. My students and I are so grateful!
