Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In the world of modern technology, teachers rely heavily on technology. It is hard to believe that I taught for almost 15 years with only 4 computers in each classroom. Since the pandemic, every single student is loaned a laptop to use throughout the year. This has been a definite perk to enhance our teaching and students learning. While I do still believe in many benefits of "old school" teaching (reading actual paperback or hardcover books, responding on paper utilizing handwriting skills, creating maps and posters, etc.) it is hard and if not impossible to teach these days without incorporating a variety of technology into your classroom. It is the way of the world and it is what my students grew up with.
My 100 students would greatly benefit from a comfortable and cozy listening and work station.
If awarded this amazing opportunity, I would set up my "Cozy Corner" to be an inviting and educational work station for the kids to be able to get comfortable and to be able to focus on their work. They go to 8 different classrooms a day and the desks are not exactly what I would call comfortable, Providing the students with a warm and safe haven would ensure stability, comfort, and a safe inviting place to do their work as well as charge their computers.
I truly would be grateful if I received funding for this idea and I believe that my students would absolutely appreciate it.
