My Students

My "kids" are some of the most motivated people I've ever met at any age. These first graders come to school eager to learn and absorb knowledge. Sadly a lot of my students experience challenges outside of school that make each day difficult.

A large percentage of "my kids" do not have all of the comforts of a stable home once they leave school.

School is their safe haven. Our county is a rural Upper Michigan with a high unemployment rate.

We have a mixed culture of Caucasian and Native American students. Students come from a variety of backgrounds. We have a lot of one parent households or students being raised by a grandparent or other family member. I hope each day at school brings my students comfort and shows them that they are special.

My Project

Everyday students use the reading area to dive into their favorite books. I am requesting funds to help create a cozy, comfortable, and clean. The new ECR4Kids Classroom A-Z Circle Time Educational Seating Rug for Children will be used multiple times a day during instruction time and also during reading centers. Students will be able to find their books quickly using the new storage book bins I have requested.

My project will influence multiple students for years to come by encouraging reading in a relaxing environment.

They deserve to curl up with a good book and read each page in comfortable setting.
