Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach twenty-five, kindergarten students who come from a high needs area. Kindergarten is the first time many of these students have stepped into a classroom. Kindergarten is the first step of their journey to learning and creating new friendships.
Literacy is the foundation of their education that enables them to become successful learners.
My students come in enthusiastic and eager to learn everyday in spite of the economic challenges they face. They are excited to explore new materials and new ways of learning. I am proud to be their teacher!
My Project
Students need a special place in the classroom where they feel comfortable meeting with their teacher individually or in a small group setting. I am requesting a horseshoe table that I can use to meet with my students daily, to help them improve in their individual needs.
Literacy centers are a great way for students to have fun while improving their reading skills.
Through these literacy centers, students will have the opportunity to practice building words, listening to stories, answering comprehension questions and other phonics skills that will lead them to success.
Kindergarten is the year to form basic habits that students will carry with them as they continue in school. To keep students organized, it is important for them to each have a writing folder to store their materials and keep them safe in different colored bins. Having these materials will benefit these students in a variety of ways!
