Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a free public charter school.

I teach a bright and eager-to-learn group of first-grade students.

My school has a diverse population of students, many of whom receive free or reduced-price lunch. A large proportion of students speak English as a second language.

Many students do not have the ability to bring in basic supplies to share in the classroom. Many of my students have ADD and ADHD and would benefit from having new resources in our classroom. They are so excited to come to school every day.

My Project

My students spend a large portion of the day in my classroom. Due to the current world we live in, my students are contained to my classroom for almost the whole day of school. We are learning, playing, and now eating all meals inside one room.

Students spend almost as much time at home as they do in a classroom.

I plan on using these items to keep a bright and homey theme while providing a space for my students to be successful. I would like to add lights into some areas of my classroom. I plan on using it as a cool-down spot and to provide comfort while my students work on hard problems. The jellyfish lamp is also used to help calm students down. The stickers will be used as a reward system and to help decorate some of the areas in the room. Having the colorful post-its will also help us keep track of materials in the room and everyone will get their own notepad. Please help me create a safe classroom environment so my students can feel loved and succeed.
