Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The supplies I am requesting are to help finish a cozy independent reading space for the seventh and eighth graders at my school. I am working hard to provide an environment where every child feels welcome to read texts they are excited about, where nothing needs to be forced. Having some flexible and comfortable seating goes a long way during independent reading time. I already have a corner and a rug, and am already cobbling together the best classroom library with bean bags and more books I can for my students, I just need help with securing the last few pieces.

These students deserve the world and unfortunately we are in a system that has de-prioritized school libraries and librarians, and teachers are told simply to set up our own libraries with no supplies or support.

Please help provide these students with some extra resources so they can comfortable access literacy for enjoyment, which in turn can unlock the world for them.
