Our school is a tight-knit family. Parents are involved in the classrooms and PTA (Parent Teacher Association), neighbors walk each others' kids to school, and our principal is actively engaged in maintaining a positive school environment. My students are a diverse, energetic group of boys and girls who love to learn! Kindergarten is their first experience with school and everything they do is new and exciting! They approach everything we do with enthusiasm and eagerness. Every day my students are learning something new and growing confidence in their capabilities.
Kindergarten is a great time to foster life long learners.
My students are not only learning the basics, but also learning to work collaboratively in a workshop model classroom to help prepare them for their future!
My Project
My goal for my classroom is to create a warm and welcoming environment where students can thrive not only academically, but also emotionally. Kindergarten is the perfect time to start showing students that reading is an incredibly enjoyable experience and what better way to do it than Buddy Rugs!
I am hoping to create a lifelong love of reading by providing students with buddy rugs and story time cushions.
Students will be able to read to each other sitting on a buddy rug. The ycan sit in tubes at the beach, thrones in a castle, lily pads in a pond, thrones in a castle, chairs at a stadium, toadstools in the forest, or a park bench in the city using these scenic rugs. The Take a Break! rug will be perfect for the student who may need a few minutes to him or herself to regroup and refocus. The It's My Birthday! rug will be a great perk for the birthday student! The Story Time cushions will be great for independent reading time.
