This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. Out of 387 students, 279 of those students speak another language as their primary language. 360 students are receiving a free or reduced lunch. Despite these hardships, our students come to school eager and ready to learn. They are full of life and excited to be at school.

My Project

Having a vibrant, cozy classroom carpet would create more community in the classroom. We will be able to learn together and collaborate while sitting on cozy carpet instead of hard concrete floors.

Research states bright colors and comfortableness create stimulation in the classroom.

Students are usually more excited and willing to work harder when their environment meets their needs.

Children spend a lot of time in the classroom and begin to understand their place in the world. A carpet would make the classroom conducive for learning which will result in a warm, welcoming environment. If a classroom is not welcoming it can stifle creativity and motivation.
